THE SLADE GRAMMAR GAME:
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE for WINDOWS: 21 Nov 04

Problem 1: When CD is inserted for the first time, nothing happens.

Solution: You can start the setup process manually by double-clicking the setup.bat file on the CD. Use WINDOWS EXPLORER to view the contents of the CD.
   1. Open WINDOWS EXPLORER by one of these:
         a. Double-click icon on your desktop
         b. Double-click icon in your PROGRAM or ACCESSORIES menu
         c. Right-click on START menu, left-click on EXPLORE
   2. Locate the Grammar Game CD (named GRAMMAR) in the list of files and drives.
   3. Double-click to display contents of the CD.
   4. Double-click SETUP.BAT to start the setup process.

Problem 2: Get error dialog with choices of: Cancel, Try Again, or Continue.

Solution: CD has been removed while Grammar Game is running. Reinsert CD and select Try Again. Note: You may have triggered multiple images of the Grammar Game or other windows by doing this. If so, close all windows and restart the Grammar Game.

Problem 3: After the install program has run, you get the message: "You will need further help to install this program...contact Slade Schuster at... etc."

Solution:
    1. Open WINDOWS EXPLORER (as described in Problem 1)
    2. Locate the Grammar Game CD (named GRAMMAR) in the list of files and drives.
    3. Click on GRAMMAR ( )
    4. Highlight the grammar.jar icon (single-click), then right-click
    5. Select CREATE SHORTCUT
    6. When you get a message that a shortcut cannot be created on the CD, select YES for desktop shortcut.

Even without a desktop icon, the game can be started by double-clicking the grammar.jar icon

Problem 4: JAVA will not install. Administrative permissions required.

Solution: Individual users are not permitted to install application software. Either work with your IT department contacts to install, or log-on as administrative user.
