The Life Well Lived
No ebbing time
or tide shall stem,
No age can harm, no rust can dim
The life well lived.
Our golden memories
be proof
We squandered neither time nor youth,
Nor rue a life well lived.
We quenched our
thirst and took our fill.
We laughed, we loved, we had our will
Of life well lived.
The golden coins
of joy we knew,
Forever bright, forever new,
Await the life well lived.
We strayed at times,
we fell, we erred,
But trusted in a dream deferred,
For we believed.
Now time and chance
may do their worst.
The last, at last, shall be the first
Who led the life well lived.
