Short Circuit

the promenade
goes once around
the private park
and gated ground

secluded path
for one to take
by town and churchyard
wood and lake

tarry there
or walk or run
it soon returns
where it begun

a memory
of sunlit scenes
and darker glooms
is what remains

and need before
the memory dies
to guess at what
it signifies
