Ignorance

Though the memory 
Be vague,
I'm told that in 
The Time of Plague
Across Europe, 
Far and wide,
Twenty million people 
Died.
Of the population then,
I've heard,
About a third.
Also odd,
In their ignorance
They blamed 
The Wrath of God.
Future generations
Will be wiser now
Because
We've shown
That all alone
Ignorance was 
Sufficient cause.
