Easter
Once more
die for us, Jesus,
And be born again
In the pierced hearts of men,
Streaming blood and water,
Who ascend,
Crosses borne,
To Golgothas
Of resurrected and perished hope.
In Your Body
we die each year.
In Your Love we live again...
Brief
as the lightning in the collied night,
That, in a spleen, unfolds both heaven and earth,
And ere a man hath power to say "Behold!"
The jaws of darkness do devour it up:
So quick bright things come to confusion.
Y/Our body, Y/Our love,
Y/Our hell, Y/Our heaven,
One.
But please, Sweet Jesus, not eternally.
To Our parched
lips is raised again
The vinegar of cruel hope
As we watch Your agony.
